Talking Photo Shoots (And Pics of Max Mabry

I started working with models back in 2012. At that point, because I was still in the closet, I focused on cis girls because I thought that was what straight guys did. It took me about a year before I started working with guys. Funny thing about guys, they really love to show off. Even straight guys love to show off to other "straight guys." It would be a few years before I came out, but even before that, I would be seeing naked guys and their cocks. Having guys get hard in front of me actually helped me come out to the world.

Fast forward a few years, and I met a guy who managed a local amateur porn company. (Hi Jason from guybone.com.) I would shoot some of his models, even becoming friends with one (Hi Greyson Kent - his stage name). I shot a few other models for his website and ended up shooting stills for quite a few scenes. I had a studio at the time, and we even shot a couple of scenes there. It was a cool friendship, and it was a fun time. In 2020 (I know, we were in a pandemic), I started shooting straight-up gay porn people for my own fan sites. Maybe I will tell you how I messed up with OnlyFans in a future post. I quickly learned that to get more guys, I would need to shoot actual scenes.

So I have constantly been upgrading equipment, learning knew things for filming and lighting as well as getting better at editing.

I would try to get some photos, but still photography definitely got pushed to the side. Even more so as I started to plan my podcast. Here is the deal, though: I absolutely LOVE doing still photography. I am fortunate that I have made two friends who are models, who have gotten me excited about photography again. Shooting a gay model, Jeffrey, and a trans model and photographer, Skyler Banx, has really gotten me excited to refocus on that again. But I really need to enjoy the process more.

I tell you the history because I want to tell you what it is like when I do still photography with a model, regardless if boy or girl. I get more enjoyment from a photo shoot than I do filming a scene. I also think the time spent is hotter. Part of the reason is because I it is a little bit more intimate. Just to be clear, I am not talking about touching a model. That is not a norm, it shouldn't be the norm for any photographer. I am not going to lie and say somethings might happen between a photographer and model, just saying it is not the norm and not something I am talking about now regardless.

If it is just a photoshoot and not a content house, conversations between the model and me are limited. The big thing I discuss, though, is wardrobe. I look into the model, and I try to see what colors work best and what style of clothing they like. It really isn't just about a jock and then getting them naked. I truly do want some photos I can share on Instagram and on this website as well. This website will share some nudity but definitely not use it to show hardcore porn. I rarely do photoshoots away from content house trips, and I am trying to fix that. I am working on scheduling photoshoots that happen when I have more time. Because the thing that sucks for me is when I do photoshoots during content houses, I am just trying to film scenes, so I do photoshoots so fast. A lot of times, too fast.

I honestly do not know why I am sharing all of this; you probably are all bored if you got to the end of it. I guess I am just trying to always get better, and writing it out makes me think of ways I can do this. I hope you have enjoyed sharing your photos from a recent shoot with Max Mabry. I enjoyed working with him and hope to bring him to the Bay Area this spring and get him naked at beaches and redwoods... and some other places.

If you subscribed to my email list, would you want some free nudes sent to your inbox of models? Maybe some free clips?
